I wanted to start a blog long time ago, but did it only recently due to StumbleUpon (SU). It is a social web discovery service that allows you to bookmark pages you like and leave extended comments for them. It is very easy to highlight and post a quote from the page into your SU blog with a single click. Initially, I only bookmarked pages, then start quoting, and later start posting reviews and comments (that can be much longer than in del.icio.us).
StumbleUpon stimulates blogging because it is essentially an example of a random stimulus creativity technique: random website. By presenting you with a random website, it stimulates new ideas and associations and, importantly, provides an easy way of expressing them.
SU blogging, however, also has some limitations and this gradually led me to start this blog.
